LoveWorld Campus Ministry USA Group 3 invites you to join us in making this Christmas special for over a thousand children and families in Sierra Leone, the nation we have adopted in the global 'Send Portions' campaign. This campaign brings the joy of Christmas to indigent families and children with FREE food packs, gifts and Christian books. Nehemiah 8:10 instructs us and informs our passion for this project: "Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength." The nation of Sierra Leone experienced civil unrest this year, and it was also devastated by a mudslide in late 2017 that claimed the lives of over 500 people, with 810 still missing. This country, which is located between the Ebola epicenter of Guinea and the nation of Liberia was also severely hit by the virus and is yet to fully recover. Survivors with family members who died because of the virus are ostracized and unable to participate effectively in society due to stigmatization. We have chosen Sierra Leone to adopt for these reasons and because we also have extended family living in the nation and giving us first-hand reporting on the dire circumstances of many families there.
