David when he had fulfilled the purpose of God for his generation, slept” Acts 13:36 Born in the coal city of Enugu, Dr Chike Cyril Ume arrived this world on the 24th of June, 1936 to father Mr Ephraim Ubabunike Ume who was a clerical officer in the then colonial government and mother Mrs Christiana Ume. The second child and first son of his parents. Trained as a Medical doctor at the University of Bonn, Germany, where he lived for decades, loved so much and would return to several times in his life sojourn, he specialized in Orthopedic surgery and was in practice for over 40 years. He was the Medical director and chief consultant Surgeon Evolution Hospital Ltd, his private medical outfit. He was a very lively man, no dull moments with him. His laughter came from the heart and boomed around the room. His hugs were of a unique type- ‘squeezy’, and he was a man who helped people even to his own seeming disadvantage. Dr Ume was a loving husband, father to six boys and a girl, grandfather, a brother, uncle and a friend to everyone. He was a light that lit up several lights. He helped many.. He served humanity.. He discovered and loved the Lord.. He fulfilled his purpose in life. He left this stage on the 28th of January, 2021 aged 85.
